Middle Spring

Welcome back to the blog after my unofficial Easter break. There’s been a massive leap in the progression of spring in the 10 days that I was away. The leaves are no longer pretending that they’re just peering blearily out of the buds, and the blossom is prolific.

This has to be my favourite shade of purple:

The dusky purple of un-opened lilac flowers. And this is one of the hardest times of year. I have to walk past six lilac bushes four times a day and resist picking the flowers. I gave in to the temptation today, and I can smell them every now and then as I type. If someone could make a perfume that smelled just of lilac blossom, they’d be made.
